The State Flower of Texas, the Texas Bluebonnet

Lupinus texensis is a species of lupine endemic to Texas. Seeing the first Bluebonnets every year is a rite of Spring, we know winter is over when they bloom. We plop our babies, our brides and our dogs down in Bluebonnet patches for photos, watching all the while for spiders and rattlesnakes, smile.

For my last blue rainbow photo.
Fabulous shot and processing!

Awesome image, Lou Ann! Your narrative made me laugh and is so true ... while the bluebonnets are always so beautiful, sitting in them for a photo is not always a pleasant experience. :-)

Very clever piece of editing Lou Ann, very much in the style of Vincent Van Gogh's Irises painting,

@pcoulson yes I thought of Van Gogh too. Lovely - fav.

Beautiful shot and I agree about the VanGogh similarity. I’m jealous, still a while to go up here before I’ll see that amount of flowers anywhere. All I have are a scattering of tiny whit snowdrops.

Nice processing! They look great in an Impressionistic style. Not sure about the spiders and snakes though!

Very pretty, LouAnn. I almost called them bluebells. I have not seen them when in Texas. I guess I have been there the wrong time of year...usually summer vacation or Christmas as a kid. :)

@ludwigsdiana @gaylewood @ingrid01 @gijsje @bkbinthecity @beryl @mittens @grammyn @pistache @joemuli @joansmor @pcoulson @dide @gardencat @sugarmuser @jacqbb @olivetreeann @gardenfolk @annied Thank you all so much for your comments and faves. This popped on the TP and PP! Thank you. We Texans love our Bluebonnets, they die when the hot weather really sets in so we are always looking for them in the spring. They are very hardy, they grow like crazy if you ignore them!
