The Prickly Pear blooms were gone in 5 days

When I took Felicity’s photo in early May, the cactus was covered in blooms. 5 days later most of the blooms were gone, leaving the pears to ripen for jelly. It will be a brave chef that will remove them once they are ripe to make that jelly. I’m not that chef, lol.

That didn't take long! I wonder how one does handle those prickly pears - I know I've accidently bumped one in Colorado and still remember how they hurt.

Lovely shots of both blooms and pears. We call them cactus figs for some reason, they don't have quite as many thorns as yours.

I think you may need a suit of armour to get the fruit of the prickly pear.

Lovely! I just got out of the car and took some photos of the large prickly Pear cactus down the street. I still remember floating down the river in San Antonio and having a wonderful dinner and prickly pear margarita! It was heaven…
