The Arlington National Cemetery is just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC, it is the final resting place for over 400,000 veterans. Today is Memorial Day, America’s day to recognize the men and women who died for our country. I pulled this photo from my archives to post on Facebook to acknowledge Memorial Day and thought I would also post it on 365. The cemetery is truly an American treasure.
Wonderful shot and tribute. I'd love to be there some day when they place a flag by each of the headstones. Sad that people were not permitted to go into Arlington today.
@stray_shooter the Army’s Old Guard placed the flags this last week. I believe family members were allowed to visit their loved ones today (don’t quote me on that). 🇺🇸❤️
Beautifully placed in the picture with touching chiaroscuro.
