Not to be outdone by the mourning dove, this Texas spiny lizard strolled to the top of the pool’s waterfall and assumed the same pose as the dove. He was hopeful a stray mosquito or fly would fly by, mistaking him for a rock. I was hopeful too, as the heavy rains have brought out all manner of insects.
