The sun at last! by louisefrance

The sun at last!

photo 288
The weather forecast was for a sunny afternoon today but it didn't appear until almost 5 o'clock, very disappointing. I did some weeding wearing my old ski jacket, that's how cold it was! Anyway, the sun did appear at last. David is in the summerhouse reading, while I take some photos!
This rhododendron was in our garden when we moved here 19 years ago. It is much bigger now. I like it best at the bud stage as the flowers fade to such a pale lilac they look almost white and are quite insipid.

Lovely - love your summer house - must be nice to have a hide-away place to read without phone etc!! And glad you got the sun - up at mum&dad's and we had sunshine all day!

Very pretty & I too like the rhododendrons in the bud stage best ...more punch somehow. Love your ''reading room '' a haven of peace & quiet !

Gorgeous POV ....love the composition!! Oh my, I would love to have a reading room like that summerhouse. Heaven!! A ski jacket? In May, in Georgia?! Hope that you warm up soon.... :)

@karenann What was I thinking when I said "Georgia?!" Sorry, Louise, I have a muddled up brain today ... but I was surprised to hear that you have such cool weather in Scotland now too. We have a need for sweaters here in the evenings in Michigan, USA, but our days are very warm in the eighties. I apologize again for the "silly" mistake. :)

Lucky you - the sunshine really lights up this pic. We didn't get any sun at all - and yes it was cold.

@karenann Don't worry about that! May is usually one of our better months but it's been very cold this year, with cold air coming down from Iceland. I'm not sure about Fahrenheit but I think it was in the fifties today!

Gorgeous summer house and rhododendron. I do agree that the buds are nicer than the flowers on most rhododendrons.

Beautiful shot. And I have to say I have summer house envy! It looks so wonderful! (I've tried pointing it out to the husband.......)

Beautiful composition and love all the soft green tones. @juanita you'll just need to be less subtle and a bit more persistent with the 'pointing it out' !!
