Rainy and cold for May 2nd. Lucy likes "sharing" a chair- taking up most of the space! This is my view as I look over my shoulder.
Thought I'd include part of an email from my brother-in-law George who I've written about so much these last 2 weeks:
My voice is getting stronger, and swallowing muscles and tongue mobility improving daily. But I long for the day when I can take in food orally, rather than by way of a feeding tube directly to the stomach. Oh, for food to taste like something! However, the worst thing at this stage would be for food to be aspirated into the lungs, and for me to get pneumonia. The hospital has been sending visiting nurses regularly to check that everything is going well and to help us with any questions. Ruth's major in chemistry in college is receiving good use as she pours the nutritious liquid food into the funnel, crushes the medicines and makes sure I get the right c.c.'s of warm water to keep me from being dehydrated. And her disciplined regimen keeps me faithfully doing my breathing and speech therapy exercises.
So cosy & sweet! Looks like your brother in law is coping as best he can.....the taste of food is so important, hope he gets to taste again soon. Good daughter!
Nothing like a little luxury! Really hope George will make steady progress. He does sound in fairly good spirits and it's great he can communicate by email.
Lucy looks so cosy.
Good to hear George is still improving. It must be so frustrating for him. At least he is moving in the right direction and eventually everything will be fine again.
Wonderful to hear the good news on your brother-in-law - he's handling this quite well though I know he wishes things would return to normal more quickly. Sounds like he's in good hands there. Do love your picture of Lucy - it's so cute how they seem to take over a space - and we let them!
Adorable shot - glad to see she's keeping cosy!
I'm glad to hear that George seems to be doing well too - I hope he gets his wish for some real food soon!
