Lost In My Mind...

I won't see you for some time

Rainy, foggy day... This is the east end of the Old Chain Of Rocks Bridge, that once carried US Rt 66 over the Mississippi River. It is now only for walkers and bicycles. But there were none today!
Very atmospheric image but, for me, the gate breaks the mood... pity you didn't step forward a couple of paces and eliminate it.

@vignouse @bkbinthecity @amyk Thanks all! Richard: I composed with the gate intentionally, my thought was to disrupt the symmetry. I wish now I had shot it both ways to compare...

I love the asymmetry of the shot...it's what first caught my eye. Also, the color really makes the shot. The strong blue lines leading off down the road are great contrast with the overall gray tone of the rest of the bridge. Nice work.

I like the gate. To me it’s what adds to the mystique of going into the mist and ignoring the warning gate. Fav

This is very meaningful, personally. I love the strong lines and misty sentiment. Also, from a historical perspective, the lines of this bridge (and the multiple homicides that occurred on it), justify the left-sided gate. It suits the history, very well. Lovely shot.

I like the gate in the photo. It gives the impression of where you might be headed. I'm sure it would be good without it too.
