Staunton, IL is a small town, about 30 minutes north of where we live. We get up there a few times a year because of a couple of quilt shops my wife enjoys.
Each time we're there, it seems that I see more businesses closed or closing. In fact, one of the quilt shops my wife frequents is closing, the other is moving out of the Main Street area.
There are so many small towns in Texas that don’t have the population to support any stores or places to eat. This sign and building are so poignant, to that end.
@henrir@louannwarren Thanks both! As much as I'm drawn to photographing the impermanence of humanity, it still saddens me to ponder each individual example.
A common sight I think. I blame the shoppers always looking for something cheaper and often the first to complain about the consequences of their actions!
