Looks like a goldfinch. Well captured. They seem to be especially beautiful this year. This is their mating colors. I know several people have noticed the change in color for the first time this year. I guess as a photographer I am more aware of these things.
@ludwigsdiana@joansmor Thanks both! This fellow was really boldly colored. The lighting here doesn't quite catch it. He was in shade, while the background was brightly lit.
@gamelee@demetriceworley Thanks both! He seems to have his head cocked at an angle, as if questioning.... I suspect he was just keeping an eye on me though.I was surprised I was able to get as close as I did!
