Barn - NF-SOOC by lsquared

Barn - NF-SOOC

Fieldton, Illinois, just a bit past Nutwood. There's a note painted on the front left foundation pier showing that the water level in the flood of 1993 came almost to the base of the barn. Normally (like today) the Illinois River is about 2 miles off in the distance (the hills you see are on the far side of the river)!

For @vignouse Richard Sayer's Straight-Out-Of-Camera-Nifty Fifty September Challenge. Still keepung with black-and-white!

That one is certainly disappearing, plank by plank. Great shot of this dilapidated old barn.

I always wonder what stories these old structures could tell. This one actually does have one posted. Very nice shot and thanks for participating in our challenge.

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the comments. I love old barns, but it does seem there’s fewer and fewer. It’s always interesting to be reminded of the flood of 1993. That was just a few years after we moved to the area, and while we were well above the flood, it was very sobering just how widespread the impact was.
