Midweek Memories / Throwback - Bare Trees

Today (9/23) is the Autumnal Equinox. Autumn is here (in the northern hemisphere), winter is on the way. The leaves will be changing colors, then falling away.

So, here's an image from November of 2005. Bare trees in the woods of Silver Lake Park in Highland IL. For as long as I can remember, I've been captivated by the patterns of branches in bare trees. Which means they're a pretty common subject in my photography.

This one is high contrast, reduced to pure black and pure white. This has been a favorite of mine, though it generally hasn't gotten much attention when posted elsewhere (a decade ago).

@homeschoolmom I worked in Highland for a long time (more than a decade) and spent many lunchtimes at Silver Lake Park. There's not a lot I miss about that job, but Silver Lake lunches is one thing...
