Language is such a funny thing. It is a dynamic 'code' that we use to communicate with each other - that is, if we are 'in' the know!
My children use words such as 'evil', 'sick', and 'bad' with meanings quite the opposite of my understanding. Perhaps that IS the point - the rebellion of the youth culture away from mainstream culture.
This portrait is layered with opposites - literally and figuratively. There are the opposites of industrial grunge textures and the chaotic lightness and colour of 'magic' ; the image of my family having dinner reflected in the glasses of a man with a seemingly distant expression ; and designer glasses worn with a crumpled tshirt and two day-old stubble.
This is actually my darling nephew who had just returned from a verrry loooong night partying, and I think he was most likely asleep under the glasses. ;) I hope he does not mind what I have done to his portrait !
Thanks 'B' xx :)
*once again I miscalculated the jpg compression, so this looks better enlarged (doh!)*
i love the textures you added to this to grunge it up. the thing i like most about this shot, the reflection in his glasses of the family at the dinner table.
i browsed through you album, you are such a great photographer!
Cool capture! So far as the changing language goes, some of it is alarming to me. Since I was an English major, I sometimes have to cringe at the vulgarity being used by the young people.

Have a great 2012!!!
