I am at the finish line on the edge of the track - lying flat on my back, my head level with the whiring pedals that are just 2 feet away, feeling the rush of wind, and the noisy stampede of tyres pounding the bitumen as the riders zoom past at over 40 km per hour!
thanks Joey - I used continuous shooting mode & hoped they would not move 6 inches off the track! The next shot taken was even closer & I might make a poster for the boys at the bike shop with it.
It was mighty scarey, but extreme-sports photography to the max!! I can now understand why sports photgraphers love what they do - it is as close as I will ever get to 'the action' at 45 kph on a bike! I actually only went to the races do some speed focussing practice, but am really pleased with a handful of the shots.
