Summer waterplay is always fun. After owning my external flash for 3 years, I finally worked out how to set it for high speed capture. Last week I discovered that a Canon 430ex flash can easily be controlled off-camera by a tiny on camera 90ex flash - I cant believe it took me so long to discover that - and I spent $60 to buy a second hand flash that now wirelessly controls my 430s!
This type of splash occurs because the size of the vase opening is close to the size of the lemon. Photography is so clever because it can capture what happens, even when we can not 'see' it - in so many ways!
Stunning clarity! So proud of all that you are learning and so way far behind you still! I'm feeling good to know what an external flash is never mind how to use it especially since My camera won't support one anyway! FAV
@grammyn I always amazes me how much there is to learn about just "pushing a button" on a camera! We all just all at a different stage of our journeys!
@deborah63@4ksb off camera flash at sort of 45 degrees aimed at the top of the vase - he trick is avoiding shadows on the background while catching enough light to keep it white. I have used a desk lamp aimed at the background and placed between the vase & the background previously. (hope that makes sense) high speed sync shutter seemed to work best at 1/350 sec. I drop the fruit from only about 15 cm above the vase (cos I often miss the vase completely otherwise!! LOL!! @deborah63 explaining hss to you helped clarify the settings I needed for my camera too - I learn so much from sharing with people too!
