Matching the two completely different colour palletes in the two images took a bit of fiddling about, but the practice is bound to come in handy some time, right?
Super editing, Lyn. I inspected it carefully and could only fault the line in the water where the stones on the bottom become visible - almost like a seam. But then I saw that was in the original! I love all the many skills you've demonstrated. Why is it a non-entry? Big fav
@teiko thanks Emilie :) I think of WWYD as being given a basket of surprise ingredients and being asked to make dinner. I have been a great fan & participated since 2011, and have really enjoyed pushing myself -- people choose such varied starting images, meaning I get to practice & learn a wide variety of different editing processes. I still like to support awareness of the challenge, but I 'retired' from the WWYD 'bench' in June this year, so now it is over to the newer generations of 365ers. I am posting here as it pushes me to see the edit through to the end which stops me collecting dozens of half edited PS projects. I find the process of compositing images is like doing a visual crossword puzzle - sometimes the pieces immediately fit together, othertimes I find myself down a creative no-through-road, and need to go back to the starting point.
You really should enter this one- it's stunning! Funny my thoughts went in a similar retro direction although mine is a hastily put-together edit since I am trying to finish up year number six on time. This is so well done- instant fav.
@pusspup yes - breaks all sorts of social conventions ;) I almost flipped the house instead, but I try to maintain the integrity of the start image where possible.
@jgpittenger yeah I was not happy with his right foot, but between the feet is exactly as in the painting so I did not want to play with it too much. I could have done a 'reverse shadow' using a levels layer & masking in behind the right foot on the shore line - the colour in that blended section is not 100%, and it might differentiate the foot placement a little more if it looked like his feet were on a little mound if the area behind was lighter than it is here. I could have also cloned in some grass over the bottom of that shoe - using a spikey grass brush the same size as the grass to his left.
