“Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones” ~ Phillips Brooks
My composite editing work needs quick access to lots of 'parts' of an image, so I am constantly adding keywords to my older images so I can readily locate particular photos. It is an interesting task - I am often finding forgotten & previously unappreciated 'gems' like this image from 2012.
Over the years, I have returned from holidays with thousands of new images, and spent hours studying them to find the single 'best' shot of the day to post to 365. By default I guess the remaining images are filed in my mind as the 'second-best' moments of the holiday.
'Great moments' punctuate our lives, but they are always the culmination of a great many more 'small moments'. Our fleeting and imperfect interactions, observations and exchanges are the foundations of, and give value to, those grand memories we hold onto. The every-day moments matter because they contribute to the rich patchwork of our lives.
@rosiekerr thanks Rosie - Even though I am now aware of it, I think I am still struggling to overcome this 'not quite good enough' thoughts about 99.99% of my images! @maggiemae Oh I soooo agree! @jgpittenger@grammyn now I just need to put the words into action in my head!
