Library of the Former Imperial Free City in Lindau ,

which was the town hall dating back from 1422. In 1524 Martin Luther called on "Councilmen of every city in Germany" to establish and maintain good Libraries. His words were heeded on Lake Constance. The Library opened in 1538. It is very interesting reading if anyone is interested to google it.
