My neighbour called and asked me to come and take a look, some insects were building something on her terrace.
Apparently they are Paper Wasps. They gather fibres from dead wood and plant stems which they mix with their saliva. The nests are water-resistant made of a brown papery material.
Paper wasps are nasty things but they are pretty clever in making there nests.. they kill good bugs in the garden so it is best to seek and destroy.. wait till they are home in the evening the spray with wasp killer .. from hardware / garden stores..
oh what a marvellous capture - they really do sting nastily if you distress them, but they are critical for good garden bio control - please don't kill them unless they are really causing an issue. everything has its place :)
Ouch their sting is so painful. David was stung twice last summer and he was in agony. Mind you it was a bloke sting, ha ha.
Val also got stung by a paper wasp when she lived in New Zealand and had a really bad reaction, ended up in A & E being given IV antibiotics.
Nasty things, I've had some really bad allergic reactions to their stings. Like how you've processed this, the sharpness and clarity of the nest is amazing
That would freak me out
@koalagardens we need more of you but I still don’t like them!!!

Congrats on making TT with it and thank you for entering the six word story!.
