I'm not smiling at you......

This has to be the most aggresive beetle we have! It devours the buds of roses in next to no time. It is huge, rock hard, stinks and makes a noise in flight. CMR beetle

Wow. Great close-up. Good find. Too bad they don't devour any bugs on the roses, instead of the rose buds. It is really very pretty.

What great colors it has...now time for it to go away! I had beetles on my roses last year for the first time, much like this one. They are resilient little creatures. Just when you think you've gotten rid of them...

We don't have these, but we do have Japanese Beetles that can decimate Roses and just about any other flowers that happen to be around. Great macro though!
