There's No Returning Home

This little nest was built out fluffy seeds from some local weed and a few pine needles. Whichever baby birds were the lucky ones to have called this home had the softest 'mattress' I've ever felt in a bird nest.
What a sweet find and how nice it looks against those boards.

What wonderful thing to find. Beautiful texture in the wooden boards too. I read recently that our North American Goldfinches use the soft fluff from thistles to build their nests. I have seen them perched on the top of the thistles pulling the fluff out, but I’ve never been lucky enough to see a completed nest.
