We have two huge ash trees in our front yard which are doomed. Ash tree borers are invading our county and the city has decided that all ash trees will be cut down. The borers will infest the trees and kill them anyway. I hate losing these big beautiful trees, they add so much beauty and shade to our yard.
I have an Autumn Ash and treat it with a Bayer product which so far has kept it disease free, Mine turn a beautiful Gold this time of year!! Wonderful shot!!
Great shot. Very lovely colors. It's sad they will be cutting it down. That's just awful. Can't they use insecticides or something instead of taking the tree down?? I'd fight it but then that's me... Scrappy.
@888rachel@prttblues Yes, the plan is to cut them all down. I guess they are starting in the city parks. I'm with you, we should try to save them and I liked Mickey Anderson's comment above where he says he treats his ash tree. My husband seems to be in favor of cutting them down and planting something else, but I can hardly stand the thought of it.
What a shame. We've lost most of our elms due to infestation, now we've got something called ash die back threatening our trees again and another called acute oak decline. If things go like the loss of so many elms our landscape will be changed dramatically.
