For my Get-Pushed-3 challenge posed to me by Andrea @colorfade: golden hour portrait

This is Julie, whose heart is as golden as the light in this shot. Julie is a personal trainer who came into my life over four years ago. Through her caring support, patience and consistency, she has changed me into a healthy and fit woman, one who can do pushups, planks, lunges, lift 30 lb free weights, and even jog a bit. Because of Julie, I have no back pain and I am stronger than I thought possible. Through her persistence, kindness and a bit of pushing, Julie has changed my life and the quality of it as I age. I owe her a great deal - and she was gracious and kind about posing for me for this challenge.

Beautiful portrait, Lyn. I also enjoy the story. Good for you for staying so active! I hope to still be "working out" up until the day I die. Which may be sooner rather than later with my horrible genetics. ;)

I've been going thru your project and admiring your work. This portrait caught my eye and I also found the story interesting as I have some lower back problems that are making me very unhappy. I work out with a personal trainer but I think I need a more rigorous program. Do you think you can tell me a bit about your training?
posted October 13th, 2012
@meisen325 Monica, thanks so much for being interested in my albums - I'd be happy to tell you what I can. Basically, we have a basement workout room full of equipment: fitness ball, step, free weights up to 30 lbs, dumbbells and bench, bosu ball, etc. Julie also often brings her TRX straps, bands, medicine balls and other methods of torture. She began my training very carefully but over four and a half years, we have worked up to pretty rigorous core strengthening exercises: pushups, planks and other yoga exercises, squats, lunges, etc. This is all personally designed by Julie to adapt to the problems that we (as adults in our sixties) run into from time to time. If you want me to email you more information, let me know how to contact you and then you can remove your email address right away. . .
