On an ordinary day...

Now that I'm slowly wrapping my head around PS & the Nik collection, I've been snapping completely mundane scenes and trying to make them interesting to help me learn. I quite like how this one came out.

A question though, about street photography, for anyone willing to give their two cents. I'm still struggling with photographing people up close, about being noticed doing it, and especially about putting images where the people are identifiable online. I just always feel that if I were the subject and I'd been photographed without my consent, I'd feel a bit weird about it, or maybe even downright pissed off. Any thoughts?

I've missed out on a few really great photos recently because of this... how do you all get around it?
Love this! I know what you mean about capturing people in your shots, I'm always a little dubious! The few I have done I've tried to capture the people closest to the camera with their backs to me walking ahead as they are the ones who immediately catch the eye! Fav by the way, great effect

In general terms, you can photograph people in open or public spaces provided that you don't use their photos for profit and that the photo does not disparage the subject (e.g., showing her/him attending to nasty activities...).
However, every person has a right on her/his image, so the portrayed person could ask you to delete your photo if you were not authorized to take it.
You don't need any authorization to take and also use for profit images of people at public happenings (e.g., like the women's march) and they would not be entitled to ask you to cease such use.

Thanks for the feedback guys :) And for weighing in on the street photography issue. I think until I get more comfortable with it, I'll have silhouettes, and side/back views with plenty of blur! I always worry that if I posted a shot online and the person had a very good reason for not wanting their image made public, I could be causing harm to them... it's a minefield for sure.
