Another zoo shot. by maggie2

Another zoo shot.

These guys always look so sad, but beautiful.
Wow - you caught his wistful expression! Do you live next door to a zoo? I envy you, with all those subjects to photograph!

@timandelke The zoo is about 50 minutes from my home. I spent the day there Tuesday and had a great time . So I will put up a few more shots from that day.

@emer Thanks Emer, I would love to have them all where they belong, but that's not the way it is.

Wonderful capture. The eyes look so sad and introspective.

Wonderful shot! :)

Nice capture although I do not like animals in captivity. A big zoo is a five minutes walk from my home and in the last years I do not visit the place any more. I can understand the attraction. He is so cute.

What a beautiful shot. I love the softness around the edges. And I think its lovely that you support your local zoo. In 12 years they predict the tiger will be extinct because they can't protect them anywhere but in captivity. And soon the zoo and pictures will be the only place you will be able to see a tiger.
November 4th, 2010
Very beautiful shot. I love the angle you chose. I agree with you about the fact that this is one way to prevent extinction and will support zoo making the habitats as good as possible.

Oh gosh - is what I said when I saw this. Lovely angle so you can see big pupils of the eyes and the light catching the sheen of his fur. I love the patterns on his face, which this picture really gets you to focus on. Quite gorgeous. I don't think sad when I look at this - and his gaze looks quite considered and engaged rather than sad. Thank you for bringing this to us.

Beautiful portrait of a lovely animal. Yes, looks very sad.
November 4th, 2010
Great detail and what a face.

@miranda thank you for your comment. I do have a problem with animals in captivity. So naturally I think they are sad. I know it is necessary now for some animals. You seeing something else in his eyes made me feel better. Our zoo is really nice and they try very hard to make it best for the animals.

@wac @justkariherself Thank you Wendy and Karilyn for your kind words and support. I wrestle with the captivity issue, but realize it is now necessary. I feel better when someone else confirms this.
November 4th, 2010
@yoelao I do wish I had a zoo that close to me but this one is within driving distance. I do understand your dislike of the captivity. I feel the same, but I guess this is the way it is now.
November 4th, 2010
beautiful! but yes, you can feel his/her melancholy... Nice capture. Makes me want to visit the zoo now too...
