I'm the one with the red hat.
This is how close I can get when I take pictures of the lions. They lay in front of me and we are separated by glass. I would prefer them to be free, but they were born in captivity and have lived in this zoo since they were babies. I can say this zoo does all it can to take good care of their animals.
I had no idea that you could get that close! That's amazing. Love this photo . . gives one pause for thought. Great one, Margaret! P.S. What do you suppose that he/she is thinking?!
Nice selfie of you in action. You get great photos. They must keep the glass pretty clean. The glass at our zoo is pretty hard to get good photos through. It is usually very smudged.
Great shot, you guys are soooo lucky, here we have one zoo in our area & the animals are kept in huge cages no glass anywhere, it's not a very nice place to visit :(
I must go & see if I can get any decent shots of the poor babies though as if you visit at least you are contributing towards their upkeep a little!
Love LOVE your selfie!! Wow- no wonder you get such awesome detail! How do you deal so well with the window as I never see any tell tale reflections? Fabuloso!
@tabbycat Tabitha, it is a sliding door. Occasionally the lions will jump on the door and it moves. It's very secure, but it rattles. I've seen people run. I haven't gotten that picture yet. :-) I've never seen it open.
@hillcrest Cheryl, I have learned to stand in a position that blocks the reflection, or have my husband stand in a certain spot. Sometimes I use the reflections if I like them. The glass softens the shot and I clean their windows with my sleeve constantly.
No wonder you get such amazing pictures. Not only can you get up close and personal but you have a very nice camera. Great shot of your taking pictures.
I think that your lions always look happy and well taken care of. This is great how close you can get. I love zoos with a lot of glass like that...safer for everyone I think and we all can lok at one another (I mean the animals can check up out too, because they do seem to...) Terrific shot!
wow - they must really like you! You take such great 'big kitty' photos. You would never know there is glass between you and your subjects. This is an awesome selfie! Seriously, it looks like she's ready for her close-up.
I must go & see if I can get any decent shots of the poor babies though as if you visit at least you are contributing towards their upkeep a little!
Now I know how you do those amazing pic.
( Do you trust that glass window ? )
Warren, I try to go once a month. In the summer months I help out at Ste Maries so I stop in often then.
and learn about them.
