Selfie

I'm the one with the red hat.
This is how close I can get when I take pictures of the lions. They lay in front of me and we are separated by glass. I would prefer them to be free, but they were born in captivity and have lived in this zoo since they were babies. I can say this zoo does all it can to take good care of their animals.
Great selfie! I love the lions

December 8th, 2011
This is a great selfir!
December 8th, 2011
Cool selfie. I like your POV. I thought it looked like you were really close to the lions. You really are!
December 8th, 2011
That must be so fascianting, and you can see their massive size.
December 8th, 2011
nice picture of you; neat to see how you get all those great shots
December 8th, 2011
I had no idea that you could get that close! That's amazing. Love this photo . . gives one pause for thought. Great one, Margaret! P.S. What do you suppose that he/she is thinking?!
December 8th, 2011
Love seeing you in action! And the kitty looks so willing to pose for you:)
December 8th, 2011
Great selfie, awesome action shot. Is the red hat to draw their attention?
December 8th, 2011
Nice selfie of you in action. You get great photos. They must keep the glass pretty clean. The glass at our zoo is pretty hard to get good photos through. It is usually very smudged.
December 8th, 2011
trust & bravery between you ,awesome selfie, frame this one
December 8th, 2011
Awesome capture
December 8th, 2011
So cool to see you in action! I can't believe how close you can get! Fantastic shot! Fav!
December 8th, 2011
Thanks for satisfying my curiousity about how you get those great shots. Do you think they recognize you by now?
December 8th, 2011
Great shot, you guys are soooo lucky, here we have one zoo in our area & the animals are kept in huge cages no glass anywhere, it's not a very nice place to visit :(
I must go & see if I can get any decent shots of the poor babies though as if you visit at least you are contributing towards their upkeep a little!
December 8th, 2011
So this is how you get your amazing animal pictures, great selfie:)
December 8th, 2011
I am glad to know you are not endangering life or limb in pursuit of your shots!
December 8th, 2011
Love LOVE your selfie!! Wow- no wonder you get such awesome detail! How do you deal so well with the window as I never see any tell tale reflections? Fabuloso!
December 8th, 2011
awesome capture of you and the lioness, our Perth zoo has the same glassed front.
December 8th, 2011
nice to see you at work Margaret...x
December 8th, 2011
WEll done.
December 8th, 2011

December 8th, 2011
Brilliant image, 24 inches away from such a magnificent and deadly beast
December 8th, 2011
I'm so jealous! ;-)
December 8th, 2011
Hey, there you are! Cute hat!! Uh, that looks like a sliding door! Do they ever open it..??
December 8th, 2011
wow, now that's a close-up, great selfie:)
December 8th, 2011
@tabbycat Tabitha, it is a sliding door. Occasionally the lions will jump on the door and it moves. It's very secure, but it rattles. I've seen people run. I haven't gotten that picture yet. :-) I've never seen it open.
December 8th, 2011
@alia_801 Alia, the male lion was staring at me yesterday from a very close distance. I wondered also. I think I may have looked like lunch.
December 8th, 2011
@hillcrest Cheryl, I have learned to stand in a position that blocks the reflection, or have my husband stand in a certain spot. Sometimes I use the reflections if I like them. The glass softens the shot and I clean their windows with my sleeve constantly.
December 8th, 2011
@allie912 Allison, they are probably tired of me by now.
December 8th, 2011
@maggie2 -free window cleaning?-you should get free admission in exchange! :o)
December 8th, 2011
@hillcrest LOL I don't clean my own windows that much. :-)
December 8th, 2011
Great Shot! Very Interesting!
December 8th, 2011
Nice one.. and where's the picture taken of the Lioness?
December 8th, 2011

December 9th, 2011
So good to see you in action. Wow, you can get close - excellent place to visit.
December 9th, 2011
I think that your lions always look happy and well taken care of. This is great how close you can get. I love zoos with a lot of glass like that...safer for everyone I think and we all can lok at one another (I mean the animals can check up out too, because they do seem to...) Terrific shot!
December 9th, 2011
@maggie2 wow that is terrific. How often would you say you go?
December 9th, 2011
(: What a great vantage point you have!
December 9th, 2011
@wjw1741
Warren, I try to go once a month. In the summer months I help out at Ste Maries so I stop in often then.

December 13th, 2011
wow - they must really like you! You take such great 'big kitty' photos. You would never know there is glass between you and your subjects. This is an awesome selfie! Seriously, it looks like she's ready for her close-up.
December 14th, 2011
wow! Im not really a fan of cages in zoos (as opposed to the moated or ditched version Singapore zoo has) but you do get so much closer!!
