I live in an area that is in a snow belt. The wind travels over the open waters of the lake and creates snow squalls, if the temperature is cold enough. The squalls can drop major snow or pass in a moment.
We are in a lake effect pattern today and yesterday. I don't really mind it's just fun to try and capture it in photos. This was just before the squall started. Sun shining and snow.

Gorgeous lighting Margaret! How do you like living in a log house? We're trying to plan our cottage build and can't decide whether or not to use log. Love the look = not sure of the maintenance.
Wow. This light is just magical...and slightly creepy all at the same time...in a 'lost in the woods" kinda way, you know? I'm sure I couldn't stand the cold, but what a beautiful place to live!!
