This was our yacht some years ago. Our boys grew up learning how to put the mast up, anchor down, winch in, and eat tinned food! The yacht was a Trojan Trailer Sailer, 7.5metres long with 6 bunks and a toilet. The name came from its type - a trojan but also sounded like missile if you were lisping! This water colour was painted for us by a friend.
My cousins were all avid sailors. One even won several competitions. I always wished I could learn but never had the opportunity. Your yacht looks beautiful!
Oh .... what a gorgeous watercolor, maggiemae. I totally love this ..I used to (try) do watercolor. And know just enough to know that this is REALLY done perfectly. Beautiful capture of it ...what a great momento of your yacht.
Oh wow, what a beautiful painting!....We were all brought up around yacht's, My dad built one & i used to race with him in a smaller one!....We had many hairy adventures on the high sea's!....Happy days!....Goodness i cant believe all the memories your painting has brought back.....Thank you X
This is gorgeous. Great take on a wonderful painting. Sailing helps kids in so many ways. My kids lived on our boat for a year when they were in 2nd and 3th grade when we went to the Bahamas and back. I had two ladies come up to my booth at a craft fair Sat. that said they have software that makes all their photo shots into water colors and they sell those. Hmmmmmmm I want one.
I love watercolors and this one is outstanding with the soft colors & simplicity. What a beautiful memory of your yacht....a treasure. Thanks for sharing.
That is a lovely painting. You'll have to look at my photos today -- kids taking sailing lessons on a small lake, pretty far from yachts but you have to start small.
That is a wonderful watercolor. It captures the the spirit so well. Nice image! Do you guys still sail? I sail a small Catalina 22 on a local inland lake here.
