This was a fishing contest held at Moeraki in Otago, NZ. The local Lions Group put on their annual day of fishing and present prizes for the biggest fish of its type. All the prizes are donated by local businesses and are very generous including a $1000 cash prize, a Queenstown holiday. The boats had to be in by 2pm and have their catch weighed. These two boats are hiking it into the harbour to be in time!
Types of fish judged are: Terakihi, Blue Cod, Red Cod, Skate, Ling, Octopus, Perch, Wrasse, Groper, Elephant fish Barracuda, Trumpeter and salmon - there was no salmon caught and a poor little chocolate fish hung from that hook!
wow ,what a variety,I fished a few Bass tournys when I lived in Va. deciding which ones to keep always proved to be a task ,love the wakes of the boats in this shot!!
YOu captured the hectic chaos involved in a fishing tournament. Wow! We have them at the lake up here...they look like this. Pretty much. So you guys caught a chocolate fish? Sounds good.
Hope the latecomers made it in time. You have captured the speed well with the front of the boats riding so high.
