Cameras are rolling.. by maggiemae

Cameras are rolling..

Son Shaun wanted to make this interview about his father and ask about his life. He's a great director - we had to be very quiet, not move around and there was no break for coffee. He had two cameras going and an audio source. At the beginning of each 'take' he clapped his hands so loudly it sounded like a pistol shot and I jumped out of my chair every time!

Three good things:
1. Although the idea is a really good one while John is capable of remembering, it took up a large part of the day!
2. The bathroom might eventually dry out after younger people showering!
3. Splashed out on some top NZ cheeses. Mainland Special Reserve double cream cammenbert is one.
What a great idea. We should all do some similar project. I wonder what he asked that it took so long.

Wonderful, I wish my dad were still living, to do this. Although he was a pretty quiet guy.

Just a wonderful idea ......how many times have we all said I should have asked my dad/ mum more questions about their life?
It all looks very professional , is it something your son has done before?
My grandson has jus purchased a film clapper board through Amazon for some sort of film thing he is doing to do with his music I think.my camera makes a rather loud click...I presume you can turn it off....I can just imagine you sneaking in behind & aiming your shot.

June 13th, 2014

He looks as if he's enjoying it. Having just done two interviews for my uni project I know it's not as easy as it looks xx
June 13th, 2014
I feel your pain with the showers. Wish we'd done more of this - in fact I must do it with my mum and dad - I don't think of them being old!
June 13th, 2014
Great photo. The interview is a wonderful idea.
June 14th, 2014
LIke most others I regret we didn't do this with my Dad and Mum too. They had such rich stories to tell of life in Rural Queensland but now they are just jumbled memories and the details are becoming lost in just ten years
June 14th, 2014
@ubobohobo Now we have the good technology to record these memories - maybe you can do something with your camera pictures?
June 14th, 2014
Now that is a thought. @maggiemae

Great capture of that important event. Dementia robs us of so much. My father succumbed when he was only 68. At least I've passed that.
June 15th, 2014
I wish we had videos of my dad- especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. But thankfully we do have still shots. Sounds to me though that you and John will be remembering things for quite some time- you are both healthy and active and that makes a huge difference! Nice capture of the interview!
June 15th, 2014
I should do this...I keep talking about it...!
Great shot.
June 16th, 2014
