Camera shy by maggiemae

Camera shy

Not this camera! It posed nicely for these photos. My new camera is a Sony DSC HX400v. I'm thrilled with its features in particular a x50 zoom, Wifi, GPS. Its highest f-stop is only 8 but it seems to have a method for coping with similar effects as a high f-stop.

Three good things:
1. I wasn't struck by lightening while swimming in the hotel pool.
2. The three tornados that touched down weren't near us!
3. The wine has improved since we were last in the USA.
Great capture MaggieMae. Looking at what you said I've so much to learn but my introductory lesson is booked for Late September

Wow 50x zoom. I hope you have steadier hands than I do! There is no way I could hold it still zoomed all the way in. Is that 50x all optical zoom or some digital?
July 29th, 2014
@skipt07 Its all optical Skip! I have learnt with zoom always to balance it on anything around - a gatepost, a bannister, a car door etc!

Congrats to you on the new camera, Maggiemae. Wow, what a zoom it has. I saw a camera as I continue on my search for another one with a 50x zoom today. It was not a DSLR but it peaked my interest as I am not sure which way to go right now. I look forward to your photos with your new camera.

@darsphotos Darlene - I'd have to say that there is a trend towards compact rather than DSLR's and my research found this one which has the same wonderful and modern systems rather than a heap of lens!
July 31st, 2014
@maggiemae I am tending to agree with you, Maggiemae. It is so much easier and cheaper to have a smaller compact camera and not have to change lenses or buy them, something I cannot afford. There are so many other advantages to having one like you purchased as well and many take photos the quality of a DSLR if not better as it is the person behind the camera and the camera together that make the photo. I am going to continue researching as my Sony is lagging when I zoom on top of the under the screen scratches that are progressing. I am so glad that we have 365 to use to compare and see what others are using to capture awesome photos. Have fun with your new camera on your vacation.

Love the polarising here. Perhaps it isn't the wine, but yourself that has improved ...?? ;-)
