French love picnics by maggiemae

French love picnics

This was obviously a 'Community Picnic'! Everybody knew about it and came by car from miles! You could bring your own or buy from the stalls - snails, beef rounds with pate in the middle, pate's, bread, salad, ice creams (with prunes in the name!)
The view was marvellouisse from the tables that were set for people to sit on. But maybe a bit too HDR.... I think!

Three good things:
1. I found out that if you reduce the size of the photo on 365, it gets posted much more quickly!
2. A 2000 bottle of Bordeaux cost Euro 5!
3. The countryside of Rural France has so many photo opportunities, I held everyone up!
Awesome shot

Must had been a good experience, Maggiemae. Hope you enjoyed it.

You are a whirlwind, Maggiemae -- In France already! France is a lovely place -- the picnic scene is very French!

Oh I just love this maggiemae....the whole concept of it & your photo which has this lovely glow to it! All those people you managed to fit in the one photo.....like little miniature figures! The blues show up like iridescent jewels....The tree branches overlooking the whole scene .....just beautiful...I would fave it twice if I could!!

Love the matronly figure in the blue...bet she has some good eats in her bag!

@happypat Thanks Pat - like you, I see more in the photo after I've posted it! There were a few dogs but they were well behaved as were the children!

I do like events like this

Nice processing!

This is great. I reminds me of a picnic area in a medieval French town we went to a couple of years ago. The atmosphere is light and very community spirited.

Oh this is perfectly wonderful Maggie! :)

What a fun scene -- a French "Sunday in the Park with George" image. The HDR does give it a bit of surrealist look to it, and a little glow, but that can work in images that are not going for realism.

I can't believe you only have one fave on this fascinating photo maggiemae.......!

@taffy I do agree with you Taffy, and thank you!
August 25th, 2014
@happypat Well, it s natural but a bit contrived as to processing! I just wanted to convert the lighting!

Lovely community shot

tres bien maggie , love your La pic nic :)

I love the HDR in this and suspect it is the reason that we can see so much detail in the tiny figures. I love the pops of colour but found my eyes positively drawn to the gentleman who was wearing black shoes and socks with his shorts.

Fav a nicely capture of the Pinic and people enjoying there food
August 25th, 2014
Nicy busy image!
August 25th, 2014
How neat, and to have the community get together like that, that is really neat
August 25th, 2014
@lwain Ahh - I had to examine the photo to find this man! How bizarre but probably very English, do you think, Lindy?
August 25th, 2014
Lovely shot.

i like the processing, makes it sort of surreal.
August 26th, 2014
Great candid shot

The HDR seems to have given the background a rather funky color- but it sort of makes you look twice. This reminds me of a French impressionist painting (only with the modern HDR twist).

Love the HDR processing 😊
August 26th, 2014
You make me laugh as we all love to take photos and it takes time. I love this photo and the HDR actually brings life to the people in this photo. I hope you had a wonderful time. FAV

Very nicely done.
August 26th, 2014
well done! I have to agree with @taffy about how similar it is to Sunday on La Grande Jatte which is the first thing I thought of when I saw it!
August 26th, 2014
@grammyn Oh really - that so interesting to know!
August 26th, 2014
Looks like a pretty posh picnic to me but again a wonderful way to celebrate summer. I quite like the Hard edged look as it gives detail to the distance and increases the interest level of the image.
August 26th, 2014
@snaphappi I though the same, Maggie - that hard edged look and the colour contrast! Thanks!
August 26th, 2014
A great crowd scene. So much to look at. The tree overarching is wonderful.
