The Dordogne is a big river that flows for 500km generally west. We were driven up river then let loose in our canoes to paddle for nearly 3 hours down to where our car was parked. Wonderful scenes of chateau, small towns, grand gardens. We stopped halfway and bought some quiche to eat but no wine - too much weight in the boat.
Three good things:
1. The only bad thing that happened was when Kerry's hat blew off, she went to grab it and hit herself on the side of the head with her paddle!
2. No sunburn in spite of constant sunshine - not the fierce sun's rays of NZ.
3. Bilberry tart and cream.
It all sounds heavenly maggiemae! Lovely gentle light in this little oasis. Sounds a very civilised place to me.......wine, good food & lots of kind sun! Your camera is working so well, you have really cracked it! Auto or manual Maggie?
@happypat It was particularly beautiful on the river, Pat. I am using manual most of the time and only use auto if I have to get something fast and don't have time for settings.
@maggiemae I am impressed maggiemae. I am all auto now simple because I don't make time to set the different settings ....also I like photos caught quickly in the street . If I could get into my head what each setting is about ie. f. Stop. Shutter speed etc. it must be like reading all of a sudden you click! I have not yet clicked!
This looks fabulous!! What a lovely time you are having on your holiday!! I went to the Dordogne many years ago but we drove everywhere - such a beautiful part of the world!!
You and your camera are taking wonderful shots, Maggiemae. Love this photo and the clarity that you captured. Looks like a really nice and relaxing place to spend some time. FAV
Reflections, colour, light and pov all so beautiful here, has to be a fav. I have never paddled in a canoe, but the first and only time I went whitewater rafting (in West Virginia) I hit myself in the eye with the end of my paddle, and had a black eye for many days. But the trip was wonderful, and entirely worth it.
Believe it or not, this looks like the river by me!! With just a little more green. We have folks rowing, fishing, canoeing and kayaking along the Delaware all the time (except winter of course!).
Stephanie!
