These are Portuguese towels and various hanging two stories up. I know in some parts of Asia you see washing hanging across the roads from apartments but not seen any like that here apart from this lot.
Three good things;
1. Amazed at another PP for my harbour lady shot!
2. Although we were stymied trying to use the underground to get somewhere ( didn't know how much or how to say where- to a machine) we spent the rest of the afternoon around the hotel pool.
3. My gin this time had juniper berries and shavings of lime skin in it - getting my daily fruit allowance?
Wonderful shot!! Great colors! But, my inquiring mind is just stuck in all the details, and keeps going around trying to figure out what is going on, such as "how do they hang the wash? Do they reel it in? Do they have to work from both windows?".....also, "the tile roofs are all sloped, so where does the water for the roof leader come from?"...."was there something that was removed between the two window sets?"....and, don't get me started on the laundry! lol...
@panthora I thought the same things, Osia - I looked out a bit later and the one on the left wasn't there! I wish I'd seen what happened! ...and yes, it does have questions when you look at the architecture!
Same questions for me too about the mechanics of getting the washing in & out......they must lean over & pull it along I think.....would have been good to see! A connoisseur of gin now...... We have Blue Sapphire here plus limes!! The gin was a birthday present from my friend...there is half left!
This is such an amazing shot, Maggiemae. Love how you captured just how it looks. I feel so lucky not to have to hang out laundry like this. Looks like they have a pulley system and the line goes around like my Mom used when I was little only less sophisticated. Brings back memories though ours went from the back door across our yard. FAV
