Sheep running by maggiemae

Sheep running

On the way over to Central we came upon a NZ iconic scene - running a mob of sheep down the main road with no dogs! They were in the back of the truck if needed but the sheep were quite amiable to be trotting down to a new home!

Three good thing:
1. Weather forecast is for snow ( in the middle of sum mer!) and icy winds but brought my merino and balaclava with me.
2. Cat hid under the bed - she seems to know we are leaving for a trip, but it didn't matter as she stays at home and is well provided for.
3. My SIL is a sweetie but she never stops talking! I took refuge in our bedroom.
A very unusual picture. the sheep are all lined up like soldiers marching down a road. .glad there was no traffic.

An interesting capture you wouldn't see in the city, for sure. At leave not here. We have seen similar scenes to this, but much smaller in group in the Navajo Indian lands -- Monument Valley, Arizona and Utah...... Years ago before the area became so commercialized.

Great shot, Maggie. I've never run across sheep in the road here and you'd think I would living in the country. I would have taken refuge in my bedroom as well. Funny that your cat knows your going someplace and I hope you don't get a lot of snow.

@prttblues Happy that you understand my difficulty, Bev

@eyesmile Not on the Main roads, Gena but on the country roads even if they are tar sealed it does happen! They have to put signs up everywhere before and get permission, I think!

What a beautiful flock all so even and controlled. Love the line they make across the road.

@ubobohobo I think they actually noticed me crouching by the front wheel of our vehicle and thought they had better give me a wide berth!

What a great photo and so unusual. Did it snow? You make me laugh so much. We got lots of much needed rain yesterday and today and tomorrow. Our cat sits and watches us take showers and get ready to leave and pouts. Glad you guys day such good care of your cat. I might drive you crazy as I love to talk too. You put it out there just as it is. FAV

@darsphotos Darlene, - what you would have to say would be so good!
February 8th, 2015
@maggiemae Ooops, I see auto correct messed up what I said above. glad you understood it ok. I meant to say glad you guys take such good care (darn auto correct). My son said there is a way to turn that off. You are so sweet. It would be great to meet you and have the chance to talk with you. Plus we could sneak away and take photos.

They are so well behaved!! Not a sight we would see here on the roads. Cows yes but not sheep. Great capture!! Good that you could escape your SIL!! Hope she didn't notice though.
