Gven to me on my 15th birthday, it then held a picture of my parents. Much later, it was my John and my firstborn. Today, with my learnt skills, I chose two photos, printed them with the right size and they fitted into these tiny circles. Me and the person in my life.
Three good things:
1. The day became warm then hot. After picking up a huge load of groceries and stuffing them into panniers I arrived down our road to see John wandering across the road and staggering a little! I though he’d lost the plot but he was just being funny!
2. Porridge for breakfast first time this year.
3. A new butcher opened up - he’s a young 17 year old German - always wanted to be a butcher. I bought $48 worth of good looking meat, sausages plus salami but he couldn’t take my credit card! I gave him $20 cash and he said, come round next week to pay the rest! Trust!
A lovely composition and so nice to hear the story of your locket. You seem to get so much pleasure out of everything - mattresses, lockets, ruby etc - it is quite inspiring.
Beautiful locket and you have done excellently well in printing photos of the right size .A greatlooking pair as well -I hope John is recovering well after his op ! How could he give you a fright in pretending to have gone doo-lally !! His sense of humour is still strong then Maggiemae ! And I should cherish that butcher if I were you !
Beautiful photos - you look very glamorous Maggiemae!! Glad to see John still has a sense of humour although i bet he gave you a fright!! That butcher sounds great - the perfect way to keep your customers!!
@pamknowler@beryl Thanks Beryl and Pam - yes what with the cancer on the nose being removed and heart pills to be monitored, I thought that he was confused and wandering! I yelled at him to get off the road then as I came up to him, I saw he was smiling - the wretch!
@snaphappi I've got the time to sit and think, now Maggie and realise how good my life is! The stuff of my dreams or in my dreams though, is a real comparison - murder, thieving, desertion, rudeness.....ha ha!
This is so lovely. How wonderful to still have this keepsake. A great photo of both of you. I like the good old fashioned way of doing business also...especially from such a young person.
@annied I thought you were talking about not showering, Annie! Must not! I'm sure this young guy who is really quite innocent will not be taken advantage of. There seems to be a few people entering this butchery that can speak German fluently! I'll have to practice my own meagre German.
I love your locket. How beautiful and nice to have your photos in it. Sounds like you had a good day. What a wonderful young butcher to wait for his money. You just do not find that today.
@maggiemae You are lucky to have this butcher in your life now. I bet the meat he sells is wonderful too. How I miss those days and family butchers that we bought from and got to sample what was unprocessed back then. No one minds wonderful people like this.
Ps, love your butcher, but I'm not so surprised, here in Switzerland I've learnt to be trusted and trust myself!
10 years ago, the day we moved in Switzerland, we were tired and the fridge empty... we have been in a very expensive restaurant and we didn't have money and our credit card refused to function....we were feeling miserable...and explained we were just settling in town... the waiter told us "no problem, give us your adress and we'll send you the bill, you will pay later with a bank transfer"... With a smile ;) love this! Life should be more like that!
Beautiful shot of this locket with treasured memories! How did you figure out the correct size for the photos? I have a small heart shaped locket- would love to give it a try.
love the rrust too
