My Gold Locket by maggiemae

My Gold Locket

Gven to me on my 15th birthday, it then held a picture of my parents. Much later, it was my John and my firstborn. Today, with my learnt skills, I chose two photos, printed them with the right size and they fitted into these tiny circles. Me and the person in my life.

Three good things:
1. The day became warm then hot. After picking up a huge load of groceries and stuffing them into panniers I arrived down our road to see John wandering across the road and staggering a little! I though he’d lost the plot but he was just being funny!
2. Porridge for breakfast first time this year.
3. A new butcher opened up - he’s a young 17 year old German - always wanted to be a butcher. I bought $48 worth of good looking meat, sausages plus salami but he couldn’t take my credit card! I gave him $20 cash and he said, come round next week to pay the rest! Trust!
what a precious locket and the photos look fab :)

Lovely family heirloom, and that young Butcher should go far, that's a nice way to build a loyal customer base.

This is a lovely way to celebrate a happy union and it makes a great shot

Bep
What a beautiful locket, Maggie; and your new butcher deserves a lot of costumers!

A lovely composition and so nice to hear the story of your locket. You seem to get so much pleasure out of everything - mattresses, lockets, ruby etc - it is quite inspiring.
March 26th, 2015
Very nicely put together and captured!
March 26th, 2015
why do you have a photo of Catherine Deneuve with John's photo?
March 26th, 2015
@summerfield ooh, you are a flatterer!
March 26th, 2015
@maggiemae - only when it's true.
March 26th, 2015
I like the shape of the heart.
March 26th, 2015
Beautiful locket and you have done excellently well in printing photos of the right size .A greatlooking pair as well -I hope John is recovering well after his op ! How could he give you a fright in pretending to have gone doo-lally !! His sense of humour is still strong then Maggiemae ! And I should cherish that butcher if I were you !
March 26th, 2015
Beautiful photos - you look very glamorous Maggiemae!! Glad to see John still has a sense of humour although i bet he gave you a fright!! That butcher sounds great - the perfect way to keep your customers!!

@pamknowler @beryl Thanks Beryl and Pam - yes what with the cancer on the nose being removed and heart pills to be monitored, I thought that he was confused and wandering! I yelled at him to get off the road then as I came up to him, I saw he was smiling - the wretch!
March 26th, 2015
@markp Thanks Mark - he needs to put up a sign though to say he has no eftpos machine!
March 26th, 2015
@snaphappi I've got the time to sit and think, now Maggie and realise how good my life is! The stuff of my dreams or in my dreams though, is a real comparison - murder, thieving, desertion, rudeness.....ha ha!

March 27th, 2015
Very pretty
March 27th, 2015
This is so lovely. How wonderful to still have this keepsake. A great photo of both of you. I like the good old fashioned way of doing business also...especially from such a young person.
March 27th, 2015
Aw...this is so sweet, and I love the way your skills in photography played a major role!
March 27th, 2015
Very creative. Nice that you still have it many years later

March 27th, 2015
Lovely locket and great photos for it
love the rrust too
March 27th, 2015
That would be the trust
March 27th, 2015
@annied I thought you were talking about not showering, Annie! Must not! I'm sure this young guy who is really quite innocent will not be taken advantage of. There seems to be a few people entering this butchery that can speak German fluently! I'll have to practice my own meagre German.
March 27th, 2015
@anazad511 Maybe thats why its called a locket, Ana! And why I want to wear it! Its a bit of a bother that I can't shower any more though!
March 27th, 2015
This is lovely great work and photo:)
March 27th, 2015
@onlyme111 Thanks Gayelene for all your nice comments - its so nice to see!

Beautiful locket and fabulous that you did such a good job with the new photos.
March 27th, 2015
The locket is beautiful and must be very precious. Your butcher has a promising career ahead of him!
March 27th, 2015
A beautiful keepsake to wear close to your heart.
March 27th, 2015
Great idea and lovely capture Maggie.

A lovely keepsake and memories and I like your 3 good things too :)
March 27th, 2015
Very sweet!
March 27th, 2015
What a beautiful locket . That's a pretty young butcher ?
March 28th, 2015
I love your locket. How beautiful and nice to have your photos in it. Sounds like you had a good day. What a wonderful young butcher to wait for his money. You just do not find that today.
March 29th, 2015
@darsphotos He was the old style of butcher that wrote the sums on the wrapping paper then added them up! Took a while but who minds!
March 29th, 2015
@maggiemae You are lucky to have this butcher in your life now. I bet the meat he sells is wonderful too. How I miss those days and family butchers that we bought from and got to sample what was unprocessed back then. No one minds wonderful people like this.
March 29th, 2015
Lovely. Very vintage! My younger daughter asked me to buy her one like that one year ago, she told me it was "fashion"
March 29th, 2015
@cocobella Interesting to hear that! Gold never goes out of fashion, really!
March 29th, 2015
Ps, love your butcher, but I'm not so surprised, here in Switzerland I've learnt to be trusted and trust myself!
10 years ago, the day we moved in Switzerland, we were tired and the fridge empty... we have been in a very expensive restaurant and we didn't have money and our credit card refused to function....we were feeling miserable...and explained we were just settling in town... the waiter told us "no problem, give us your adress and we'll send you the bill, you will pay later with a bank transfer"... With a smile ;) love this! Life should be more like that!
March 29th, 2015
@cocobella Amazing - but then you could have been asked to do the dishes for the rest of the evening! lol
March 29th, 2015
@maggiemae that was one of my fear.... Or to have to go to the police station.... ;)
March 29th, 2015
Lovely locket and nicely composed shot.
March 30th, 2015
Beautiful shot of this locket with treasured memories! How did you figure out the correct size for the photos? I have a small heart shaped locket- would love to give it a try.
March 30th, 2015
@redy4et I'm afraid I guessed, Elizabeth. But I put a ring around them for cutting them out with scissors. Picmonkey shapes.
March 30th, 2015
Very nice piece and portrait of it.
