The rose is fairest when ’tis budding new,
And hope is brightest when it dawns from fears;
The rose is sweetest wash’d with morning dew,
And love is loveliest when embalm’d in tears.
Scott—Lady of the Lake
This is to show that a rose is still beautiful when its time is almost up!
Three good things
1. Our autumn bush, often known as a ‘butterfly’ bush is full of those fluttering insects but its too high and they are too fast for me to try unless I get really determined.
2. John’s doctor’s visit to check up on his skin graft on the nose which has looked awful now looks even worse without the stitches holding it together but the medical staff say, its “looking good”! He can now wash his hair in the shower after 8 days!
3. Why do we ‘wring’ our hands when we are worried? Or is it only me! The good thing is that we can ask!
Yeah, i must be horrid, but I prefer this to the healthy rose shots. As a kid, my dad grew roses. However, the preference for rose varieties has changed in UK. The blooms are often too heavy to match my memories. This one is no glam cabbage....thanks for the creative shot.
How coincidental that you have a war wounded husband too Maggiemae! Harry's stitches are out but he still has a red line down where the cut on his chin is......sometimes it's redder than others. Hope John looks like his good self soon! Sorry you are worried....I never ring my hands though! Love those stamens reaching up......very beautiful & I like the alternative flower photo....added interest at the angle!
@happypat Thanks Pat - John's not worried (as men do) but looking at those red lines - he's got three and I have to apply anti something ointment every day, I wonder if its ever going to heal properly! Yes, I wring my hands!
@tiedmark There is something called a cabbage rose but I don't think its as beautiful as the real thing! Besides, you can't make sauerkraut out of a rose!
What a beautiful photo, Maggiemae. You have made this rose look fabulous. Poor John. I feel for him and it will heal up and be fine, just takes time. FAV
@panthora One of the worrying things that I do, Osia is move my mouth around when I am concentrating! I'm glad that you can't see this when I am using my camera!
@darsphotos Its not John that is worried, Darlene - its me seeing what happens each day to this skin intervention as you might call it! Thanks for you message - you always make me feel better!
@maggiemae Oh, Maggiemae, that is pretty funny, and it made me think of my dad.....he used to kid me a lot because when I concentrated on something I would stick my tongue out! Yes, always better to be on the other side of the camera when that happens!
@maggiemae I did not think too much about you looking at it. I cannot talk to my husband about what I have had done. I had skin cancer on my temple and it did not look great but I did not see it all the time either and healed up quickly. I am glad you feel better when I comment. Take care.
Great sharp detail.
