More often known as a Vicarage. This one has an interesting history and the architecture is echoed in another magnificent huge castellated building nearby.. Now it is taken over by volunteers who want to preserve the history and show it to its best. All is handled by the Historic Places Trust including the stables seen in the background. The church is the right hand building. I have put a water colour interest on this picture.
Three good things:
1. Homeward and I chose to do a 17km ride over the hills. Needed lots of gear changes and puff.
2. Clocks changed one hour backwards and that made a nice sleep in in the morning but wanting to go to bed earlier than the clock defined!
3. Picking a bag of quinces from the side of the road. We stopped in the driveway to ask permission but nobody there. Probably just as well - John picked up some nasty looking revolver cartridges from the driveway!
What a beautiful house - lovely image and great processing!! Not sure I like the idea of the revolver cartridges - lucky no one was home!! Fav for this gorgeous colourful image!!
Such a pretty place.......love that water colour interest......is that in the edit or your camera option? Trying to work out of the pink flowers are roses or Dahlias. Such a lovely display there. & I love the child's wheelbarrow.
Revolver cases sound alarming......you might have got shot for trespassing!
@happypat They are dahlias here and very colourful along the fence line along with hollyhocks, Pat. The water colour is post edit and reduced to be not quite fully water colour.
How pretty. I love your processing and have not heard of it before. We just Sprang forward in time. Still feeling that one hour gone and wish they would not touch the time. What are quinces. Oh, we got very loud thunder today, along with lightening, rain and hail. Less than an hour but at least we got it. My desktop computer is not working for photos at all but can use for commenting and posting words only for now. Going to use my sons laptop and buy a monitor to use with it. A lot cheaper than buying a new computer. He will take mine home with him and see if he can figure out what is going on in his free time. Grateful for his laptop that he does not use. I have had computer problems for too long.
@darsphotos Hi Darlene! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quince for the quince info - the only fruit you can't eat raw! Its really weird but makes some lovely dishes. Good that your son is lending you his computer!
@maggiemae Thank you for the link, Maggiemae. How do you cook yours? Interesting fruit that looks like a pear. I have not seen them in our stores though have not really looked. My sons computer is on permanent loan to me as he does not use it. He brought a monitor for me tonight and i paid him for it. He hooked everything up and explained what to do to turn on and off and moved my printer and attached speakers we had here for listening to music if I like. On Friday he will attach my external hard drive and update his laptop so I can use my photos again for posting and emailing and add photos I have taken that are sitting on my card in my camera. It has been quite a process.
This one looks like a postcard! Did you process it to look like a watercolor? So very pretty.... Oh, and I love quinces, and I have eaten them raw! They are a very weird looking fruit, and quite astringent before they are ripe, they also have a very fuzzy skin!! You have to peel that off completely, and then eat small pieces at a time. It might be an acquired taste, but they are rather good! Quince preserves sound very yummy!
