If I remember rightly, the Famous Five had tons of exciting adventures then into the food - lashings of cream, lashings of toast, fresh eggs from the farm, etc. Not to forget lemonade and on the bad side, that nasty Uncle Quenton!
Here, Yolanda has caught up with the Famous Five, Julian the oldest, George who was a girl and her beautiful dog,Timmy, Dick who never seemed to make his mind up what to do, and Anne who was a feminine character who balanced this stroppy group so well.
Yolanda has asked them if they know where Mr Man ( our Nuts and Bolts man) is! This is a horrifying scene where they may be watching the burial of Mr Man BUT we don’t know! Maybe Timmy does?
Three good things:
1 That my wonderful 365 friends some of who have never heard of Mr Man and Yolanda have gone along with the story!
2. Lawyers who know what to do to keep you and your property safe for the future.
3. A cat who stares at you silently demanding her food, then runs away and jump on John’s lap because she doesn’t want to go outside for her meal!
Well, Yolanda fits right in there! I sure do hope that's not Mr. Man going under there- perhaps it is a treasure with a key that may lead to his whereabouts....
Oh I loved the Famous Five books - great memories especially the "lashings of cream". Yolanda fits right in with her new chums!! I do hope that isn't Mr Man being buried!! It looks like they all have a new adventure just starting!! Fav for a fab image!!
@gijsje Wow - the illustrations look a bit different. This photo is taken from one of the original books that I still have - one in a series of 11. 1950's.
Love it Maggiemae....my favourite books when I was young! How we all loved the Famous Five! This picture brought it all back to me! I do hope that is not Mr Man.....Timmy must get down there auickly & dig him up!! He has obvious,y been mixing with the wrong sort! Hope it's not drugs or murder....fat too controversial for Enid Blyton!
Great shot. Looks like a painting. I have not heard of the famous five. Learning a bit everyday. You feed your cat outside, in the cold? We feed the ferrel cat outside as she is out there most of the time. But Oscar has a placemat on the floor next to our refrigerator where he eats his food. Your cat is smart to jump in John's lap. FAV
@darsphotos They were a series that were written by Enid Blyton and very popular in the 50's and 60's Darlene.. We feed the cat outside as she is inclined to eat her food too fast then vomits it up all over the carpet!
Oh, I just loved the famous five. They had such wonderful picnics, that their mother packed for them, with cress sandwiches and lashings of lemonade. I was never sure what cress sandwiches were but they sounded delicious. I'm glad to see Yolanda has teamed up with them but she'll have to watch her waistline.
Super clever work.
Hundreds of Dutch titles!
