This is a reflection of the road bridge above the stream. It is the main road and busy with vehicles whereas here in the Public Gardens it was quiet and the stream trickled on past this reflection and under the bridge.
Three Good Things;
1. Oamaru has the most beautiful Public Gardens - how nice it would be to work there amongst the tall trees and the bridges, the monuments and the flower beds.
2. A new cafe opened up - I’m afraid its not going to do well. If you like being called ‘Love’ by the proprietor and the loud talking of the staff and others in the main area, chewy buns, then being asked, “Does yous guys want knives and forks? - then you will be fine!
3. . John gave a neighbour a heap of our grapes and he gave us a bag of tomatoes from his glass house - they are to die for - an explosion of rich flavour!
Such beautiful framing, fav for this lovely picture. Enjoy those tomatoes, they sound wonderful. And thanks for making what you write as interesting as what you photograph!
@olivetreeann They asked for payment before we sat down! So that wouldn't work. The owed ( the one who calls you 'lovey') has new and young staff and they are getting it right! They pop back all the time and ask if you want sauce, more, etc - but not water. Oh dear, they need management advice and training. They didn't even tell us there was a menu - we just happened to see the one copy on a neighbouring table!
@tonydebont Thanks Tony for those nice words! Nowdays in 365 it teaches you not to just 'look and press the button" What is in your frame - you do this so well!
This is beautiful Maggie. The reflections are great. We have a new coffee shop which allows dogs in. It is always really busy, good coffee and service with a proprietor who is always pleased to see you. This being a small market down there are lots of dog owners and those who don't like dogs can always go elsewhere!
@thistle A very good marketing exercise, Joyce - ask long as the dogs don't take a disike to another! But I guess they are all well behaved! Not so here - dogs are forbidden in lots of areas!
This is a beautiful shot. When I go back to NZ in a few years time I must make time to walk there. The cafe sounds vile, its such a shame when peolpe want to walk. Have coffee and admirethe view
I love the gardens in Oamaru when we visited there (and watching the rafts of penguins coming in). Dave and I had some great walks there as the Top Ten camp we stayed in was near them.
I love how you have framed the water with the shrubbery. The cafe sounds like our coffee shop at work, where one lady insists on calling us 'love' 'sweetheart' 'darling' 'honey' in serving us one coffee!!
The reflections here make this shot......beautiful gardens, very dreamy like....I could wander there with a long floaty dress & a parasol! Sounds like the cafe person comes from Lancashire....we are quite often 'loves' here too though not as common as it used to be.
@happypat In this very scene, at a certain time of the year, Victorian week, I could actually take that dreamy lady - she might have a very young and handsome cohort in victorian elegant male dress!
i am quite jealous that it is already autumn where you are and your surroundings are still lush with verdant life. we've been one month of spring and everything is still mostly brown and dreary. but indeed there is some promise as the grounds are starting to change colours to green. wonderful shot, that's a rather nice bridge.
Gorgeous shot!! Love the bridge and the framing by all that lush greenery! And, getting hothouse tomatoes in return for grapes sounds like a good deal to me!!
