Sometimes early in the morning here, the more interesting scenes develop! Its the same scene from our deck and the same mist in the valley! Different, is the angle of the sun getting towards the most northern point of the sky and creating a golden look. Only 4 weeks till the shortest day!
Three good things:
1. Street art is blooming particularly in Dunedin.
2. On my bike ride yesterday I thought of what I could write about it -the gentle rolling of the waves on the beach, the scent of the winter crops alongside, the hawk that lazily crossed my path, the birds singing in the tall trees alongside, the smile of the one cyclist that I met and what I think is cow parsley on the roadside banks!
2. I bought some iris(es?) to put in the garden - enthusiastic about a 365 photo!
I love to see & hear about your bicycle ramblings....it must be wonderful to be able to go out & travel the countryside in the fresh air without too much effort thanks to your little engine. I looked at my bike the other day & I must get on it this summer but that hill on the main road really puts me off. Even if I had an engine I would have to walk up that hill as the road is so narrow & I would be terrified of the big wagons passing me. The only solution is to walk up on the footpath. Not a good thing to look forward to,at the end of a bike ride.
Sounds like you have a good think while on that ride too! Lovely colourful trees.
Great minds think alike. I was just out on my verandah waiting for the jug to boil and reflecting on the golden light and the fact it's just a month away from solstice. Beautiful view love the light flooding in from the left and the cloud bank out to sea
@happypat When I'm out biking, Pat, I can hear the huge lorries coming behind me and mostly pull of the road to let them pass or even get off my bike and wait! Thiis little bike can do 30k/hr using the throttle so its good to go across crossings safely!
You framed this picture perfectly and I would think it could be one to have hanging on a wall somewhere. the colors are great, the light is perfect and I love the ocean view.
This is so lovely. The mist in the background and the bit of red on the tree really set it off nicely. Almost like a painting. So beautifully composed as well.
@tristansmum I've not had much experience with iris but my SIL bred them and even got a special one she created which she called 'Munro" She was struck with a bad stroke and can't talk! I need to find out what happened to her iris!
@annbo Thanks Ann - sometimes I think that there are so many good photos on this site that they would look fab on our walls but then we wouldn't have enough wall!
@rosiekerr Now "iri' would take the botanical experts to an explosive scene! How about irisae? or Irisies? Ive now just googled it and believe it or not its, "irides"!
This does hav the look of a painting. Lovely scene. Best of all is your description of your bike ride, I am there experiencing it all. I love it when we get out on our bikes you just see and hear things you never see while on the same car journey.
Sounds like you have a good think while on that ride too! Lovely colourful trees.
Only four weeks to the longest day here!
