Its the shortest day and as usual there was a mid-winter swim! They all got dressed up and ran helter skelter into the cold water. Some stayed for quite a while - there was the British Bishop who kept blessing everyone in sight, the green man, the darker man, and now our wonderful Bride and handsome Groom seen here. I think they were husband and wife as he seemed to take care of her even though she was having a great time!
Three good things;
1. My knitting is all finished - all but the sewing up the pieces - found a good seam stitch on the internet - called ‘mattress stitch!
2. Wondered when John would notice that I came through the lounge 10 times shutting doors. He didn’t and I gave up. Its good he’s so tolerant of my silly ideas.
3. A good walk home from the harbour watching dark clouds gather and move so fast. I did too!
@pamknowler@darsphotos I was just testing John to see if he noticed I was doing something odd! Opened one door and shut it, walked through the lounge, opened another door and shut it - then round again! I am a nincompoop!
@gijsje Don't apologise! Its me to thank you for sending me these pictures! Got them. There are hundreds more people here than we had. Just a small town.
@grammyn I think I'm lucky with my new (ish) camera that it gets the focus so right and of course, I use manual with my settings so I can change the light if I want. There were lots of people watching but only a few participating! Not like Bep @gijsje who showed me pictures of hundreds doing this!
This sounds like a fun event. Our longest day here yesterday, and it's seems funny when it's still light at 10pm. Your seam stitch sounds interesting - I must look it up.
What a great fun capture Maggie. I love it they are so obviously having a great time. My spell check has just turned 'great time' into 'geranium' the mind boggles!! Not sure how you go about having a geranium.
She is having fun. not too bad compared to our dip in the ice. in the winter they cut a large whole with a chainsaw in the ice and people jump in.
not me, I would have a heart attack for sure. yesterday was our longest day..from now on the evenings get shorter and shorter. it also was our beginning of summer and Hans's Birthday.
A most unusual but fun capture! We have a Polar Bear Club here in which members go for a winter dip in icy Lake Ontario--I'm not enough of a masochist to do that.
Sorry it didn't work. Please google (pictures): nieuwjaarsduik scheveningen 2015. Hope this does work.
