The promise of Spring by maggiemae

The promise of Spring

No much on the ideas front today! I get a little tired sometimes of trying to get a photo that I’m happy with. One day I’m going to post a picture of mud!

These rhododendrons are coming out in our garden which may mean winter is slipping into the past!

Three good things:

1. Getting at least 3 ‘planks’ achieved a day, I’m definitely stronger - don’t fall over when I’m taking my socks off!
2. Lots of lovely dog photos on 365.
3. The smell of satay pork cooking in the oven.
Nicely captured!

Lovely pic!

Yes I know the feeling and sometimes the ideas just aren´t there, i find it best simply to let my mind rest and try again the next day, it usually works for me. Lovely shot & I can almost smell the pork, yammy!

@grammyn Thanks Katy - first we have to have some rain! Very dry here though some parts of NZ are flooded!

Lovely shot. If your winter is coming to an end then it means our summer is also ending and I don't feel it's really started yet! You are always so positive Maggieme so I'm glad you didn't feel down for too long

Beautiful detail. Glad your spring is on the way.
August 4th, 2015
@kelly2 Thats a very nice thing to say, thank you Irene!
August 4th, 2015
Very very pretty. How long do you plank for? 1 minute?
August 4th, 2015
Yeah for stronger!!!
August 4th, 2015
@amandal You have got to be joking, Amanda! I've got up to 40secs but thats only if I've had coffee and a muffin!
August 4th, 2015
Not like you Maggie to feel like this, hope it's just a little blip :)
Lovely detail on the beautiful flower

1 min is my norm. I've done 2. Once at the gym we did 3 or something but we were changing positions and angles. It is hard. But yes gets you stronger. I've heard of some crazy person doing hours. Gotta be crazy for that and a navy seal:). You are doing great. Do you and hubby plank together? that sounds very personal:).
August 4th, 2015
When we did the 3 min one...I had to drop out and take breaks...dying.
August 4th, 2015
@amandal Hey, I'm now singing, "Come on baby, lets plank together"!

Love your flower. Your winter is slipping into the past, as you say. It means our autumn is just around the corner, but I'm happy with all the summer days that are still to come.

@maggiemae I can wait! ;~}
August 5th, 2015
I can relate to you on trying to get a great picture each and every day, and that's okay! I thought that now that it's summer I would have more ideas than in winter, but not necessarily so. I'm impressed you are still planking and I must try it as my core really needs strengthening. I will follow your link to get inspired. Pretty rhododendron!

I suspect that your feeling is shared by many, but your conscientious efforts are often rewarded with a beautiful shot. I like the delicate paper-like texture of the petals. Hopefully, spring is on the way. 3 "planks" a day... great job!

Really beautiful color and textures. Wonderful focus as well. Happy Spring!

@eyesmile We are a long way off Spring Gena so it is lovely to see some colour in the garden. Still got snow and frosts to come - next lot this weekend!
August 5th, 2015
Beautiful rhododendron Maggie. Hope the forecast southerly doesn't spoil it.
August 5th, 2015
@barb_b Thanks Barb - these flowers are right at the back and underneath the big bush - so I had some difficulty photographing them. But its probably the best shelter!

When I get in a funk, I try to find something funny or odd to take photos of. When I was on Flickr (another photo site) I took a photo of two dog turds that were porous and white and shaped a bit like eggs!! I named it "Two eggs that will never hatch" It won awards and everything and no one knew what it was until later when I told them. The comments made me laugh so hard that I totally forgot about being in a funk for photos and got my photojo back!! Now that your spring is nearly here or is here, there will be so much more to photo and you will be ready to go again!! This is a FAV from me. I love these flowers!! Great details and lighting!!
August 5th, 2015
@cashew Thank you Kathy - you say the right thing! It brought a big smile on to my face! But you must be clever with your camera to get such a tribute!
August 5th, 2015
Beautiful flower in a lovely light. I think you might just have given yourself a challenge - an artistic shot of mud!!
August 5th, 2015
@jokristina Crikey, Jo - do you think a B&W shot of mud would be the one?
August 5th, 2015
Nice image - now that I'm in year two, if I don't have an image for the day, I have a lovely time looking through the albums to find a suitable one - that way I get to revisit 'the places I've been'.
August 5th, 2015
@dide I do agree with you looking back on your albums and if you have put a good description of the photo as when you took it, its like a pictorial diary!
August 5th, 2015
I know what you mean about getting tired sometimes. You do a fabulous job though and we all appreciate your effort!! This is lovely - almost looks like paper - so pretty and delicate.
August 5th, 2015
Pretty capture full of detail on the stamens.

Astonishingly beautiful! Big fav
August 5th, 2015
I would have to trouble taking a picture of mud, just for a change - not - it's raining again here :) This is a lovely shot of a beautiful flower. I like the multiple colours and the petals look like paper.
August 5th, 2015
Love the crumpled silk of opening flowers and the depth in this image.
