Wild Coastline by maggiemae

Wild Coastline

Didn’t have to do mud here today because it was book club day and this was the way to the hostess’s property! Along a wonderful coastline! Sometimes Hector Dolphins are seen along here. You can see the volcanic activity here in these cliffs which interests geologists so much! I think I must be one - not a cliff but a geologistess!

Three good things:

1.I feel blessed with my wonderful friends on 365!

2. Everybody except me wore high heels for this Book Club meeting - and there were no men there!

3. As we don’t have a set book to review, we all talk about the books we have read. Except me - I’m always on 365 as it is fundamentally more interesting with lots of fascinating stories! History, geography, literature, fun, laughter, holidays!
Beautiful shot!

Wonderful scene!! Yes I find 365 really interesting too - I have learned so much from all corners of the world!!

I only ever wear high heels about twice a year!! New Years Eve & perhaps another time....great coast line .......book club is a good name for a coffee morning! I would like to go to a book club bit not sure I would want to read someone else's choice!
August 6th, 2015
A nice PoV, I would love to see it through my lens as well...
August 6th, 2015
@happypat I'm the same - over the years, have avoided reading a book that someone has chosen to 'read'! Too much like school English to me! Our book lot seem to like shoes and talk a lot about them, I hide my comfy sneakers under the chair!
August 6th, 2015
Wow! What an incredible setting! I'm sure there's something different there every day/

@kwiksilver There is a little cafe up there on that cliff and it overlooks this coastline so is great to visit - has wonderful fish and chips too!

Stunning capture, you live in such a beautiful area
August 6th, 2015
A beautiful area! This image offers so much to concentrate on too!
August 6th, 2015
I love how this works so well in B&W. The contrasts are fabulous.
August 6th, 2015
A wonderful piece of coastline with all that geology on display. The b&w adds weight to the rocks.
August 6th, 2015
High heals... what are they... lol.. lovely shot of this great bit of coastline..
August 6th, 2015
I never think to edit coast shots in b and w but it works wonderfully. I had to laugh re both your heel-less-ness and you being a geologista. Made me think of my daughter in law who hiked a grueling Grand Canyon trail with my son and husband and showed them every rock and gave them geology lessons galore. They loved it. She said her family was bored to death with her rocky interest

Wonderful shot.
August 6th, 2015
Looks really good in monochrome - great tones and composition.
August 6th, 2015
@jgpittenger Goodness, in the Grand Canyon there would be tons of interesting places to learn about but probably very hot standing there listening!
August 6th, 2015
My husband and son loved it

Beautiful coastline. We, in our book club, read four books every winter. They have been chosen from a long list by a group of people. On the short list are four books that all of us have to read; we usually have very interesting discussions.

Gorgeous coastline wonderful processing.

The black and white gives it a dramatic atmosphere.
August 7th, 2015
Such a great capture!
August 7th, 2015
beautiful presentation - it is always a good idea to wear shoes that are comfortable
August 7th, 2015
@hjbenson If your feet are comfortable then the head follows, eh, Harry?
August 7th, 2015
This is a lovely pov...great detail . Totally beautiful. So glad you clarified that you are geologist not a cliff....phew!
August 7th, 2015
@eyesmile I'd feel a bit stiff if I was a cliff, Gena and then someone might fall over me!
August 7th, 2015
Wonderful composition, perspective
August 7th, 2015
Wonderful craggy cliffs and surf lines. Begone, you high heels, that give a girl some mean bunions! I liked your comment about my mailman... maybe, if you buy him a ticket to NZ, he will happily deliver a Lensbaby. ;)

What a marvellous view and coastline.
August 7th, 2015
Maggie this is jut beautiful. Fav
August 7th, 2015
@thistle thank you Miss Thistle - your opinion is welcomed and appreciated!
August 7th, 2015
@rosiekerr My camera got the craggy cliffs quite nicely - I was balanced on the edge of a cliff just down from here but thought I was probably safe!
August 7th, 2015
Why is it that I enjoy seeing other people's mono pictures whereas I never fully like mine? This is beautiful and crisp. Quite a few words must have been said at the meeting with all the women and no men around to stop them, haha.
August 7th, 2015
Lovely coastline and must be a delightful walk, looks wonderful in B & W.
August 7th, 2015
This looks a lovely stretch of coastline. You have captured it well.

August 7th, 2015
Absolutely gorgeous!
August 7th, 2015
What a gorgeous drive. I feel like you're going to a house of royalty with this spectacular coastline. Hope the book was good.
August 7th, 2015
This is quite interesting to see in b/w. The details come through well.
August 7th, 2015
The last time I wore high heels I almost broke my ankle! Not meant for me now- but I admire anyone who toughs them out. (Actually from my days working in a shoe store, I know for a fact that they are horrible for your feet- but too many of us would rather sacrifice our health to style!) I have the same trouble with reading- 365 is so much more fun! LOL Love your coastline- so rugged but beautiful. Great shot!
August 8th, 2015
What a lovely coastline to live near and to drive along. There is something wonderful about the ruggedness of nature
August 8th, 2015
Lovely shot - looks really good in b&w
August 8th, 2015
Wonderful B/W Maggie...Fav

A majestic seascape!
August 8th, 2015
Beautiful light and subject here. Good for you for not bothering with high heels. I am also on 365 a great deal--or out taking pictures, or looking at, weeding, and processing them. No time for a book club. But I have been re-reading a book by a Canadian photographer called Freeman Patterson, who happens to be my favourite photographer. He published several books during the predigital era, and new editions for the digital era have come out. I still have the old ones and think there is a lot useful and inspiring stuff in them.

i just finished five books, maggiemae. it is my de-stresser, especially that they are tremendously good books; excellently written and the plots riveting! that seriously cut my already cramped time on 365. i so missed reading marathons which i used to do a lot before 365. it felt good but then photography always beckons and I'm too addicted to stop!
August 10th, 2015
@summerfield I can read books when I'm away very easily but not so much at home - there always seem to be dishes to do, walks to walk, meals to cook, photos to take!
August 10th, 2015
@tristansmum Sounds an interesting author Stephanie - will make a note of his name!
August 10th, 2015
Beautiful capture! I don't read many books since I started 365 either!
August 10th, 2015
I like the cliffy coastline. So when everyone discusses the books they have read, do you share interesting facts that you have learned from 365 then?
August 10th, 2015
@kiwichick Nope, Lesley - they are not interested in photography and in fact one of them goes all funny if I take photos!
August 10th, 2015
What a wonderful route to your friend's house!! I am in total agreement with you in that high heels should never be worn unless absolutely necessary, and then only for maybe an hour! And, 365 is full of wonderful stories from all places around the world.....I think reading them while viewing the wonderful photos is our guilty pleasure! ;-)))
