Outlook - snow and morning frosts by maggiemae

Outlook - snow and morning frosts

This is what I see from our road where we live - a ridge where the outlook is wide and extends to the range of mountains which actually keeps us sheltered from major weather events!

I have used a slight water texture effect from picmonkey on this scene.

Three good things:

1 . Can’t trust travel agents - get it all wrong - a motorbike show is on in Auckland and we have accommodation and travel paid for. They have booked us in a different hotel than what we found and that motel is fully booked. Auckland is tricky - this has a major rugby game on on Saturday, a horse racing event as well as the motorbike show.

2. Chocolate fudge slice for a coffee this morning at a lovely sunny cafe in a hotel - $6 for a full coffee and a huge cheese scone for John and the slice for me - not a good as the one my Mum used to make and have to hide it from us!
3. My tulip bulbs haven’t come up yet but my iris ones have!
Your snow beats our snow. Winter is not done with us yet. I like the wind-drift effects of the water effect.

@julzmaioro Thanks Julia - yes finally got it sorted - in Greenlane road just along from the ASB Stadium where the event is which is good!

Such a massive contrast of snowy mountain & green green grass! . It looks as though the snow is blowing of the mountains! Glad you got a bed in Auckland, will look forward to the photos. I could just eat a scone!

@happypat Its all about motorbikes, Pat. John is presenting a successful auction bidder with a brand new motorbike with special Burt Munro significance in the paint. I will take my computer, sit somewhere and look at 365!

@maggiemae Oh it sounds thrilling......John will be in his element I should think! Enjoy every minute of stardom!

August 10th, 2015
@kwiksilver Plain blue sky is boring, Gillian!
August 10th, 2015
So funny to see snow when it's 94 F (34 C) and heat index of 101 F (38 C) or to hear people speak of Spring when we are in full hot, hot, hot summer!! Sure would love some of that cool weather and the mountains to surround and protect us!! Very beautiful scenery!!
August 10th, 2015

August 11th, 2015
Very cool
August 11th, 2015
Lovely view though is love to see it without the painterly effect as well
August 11th, 2015
@jgpittenger Yes, I'm lucky - I can see all the photos I took whereas you are stuck with the only one! I can also see the view itself but it has generally a lot of traffic going down the road too!
August 11th, 2015
It's like spring meets winter in one photo.
August 11th, 2015
Ripples of water in the sky. Interesting effect. And I agree with Kathy that it seems funny to be seeing snow when we're sweltering over here.
August 11th, 2015
What a beautiful view! Interesting water ripple effect.
August 11th, 2015

August 11th, 2015
Beautiful and cold!
August 11th, 2015
What a lovely view, and I love the processing......I cannot decide if it looks like you are underwater, or if you are looking through a window and it is raining outside!! So glad you got your accommodations sorted out! And, do remind me to never plan to visit NZ or Australia during our summer months.....your winters are sounding brutal!
August 11th, 2015
Stunning. I know Sarah ( @farmtography ) was telling me that she had to defrost all the lines before feeding the calves.
August 11th, 2015
This is great & love the view!
August 11th, 2015
It looks pretty and I like the effects of the glass

August 11th, 2015
Looks very pretty but I'm glad the snow is out your window and not mine.
August 12th, 2015
@olivetreeann I love the winter - clear skies, low humidity, warm fires, hot soup - even hot baths!
August 12th, 2015
@maggiemae I do like the days inside with the woodstove going and soup for dinner- but I seem to like the snow less and less as the arthritis gets worse and worse.
August 12th, 2015
@olivetreeann Yes, I would agree with you there, Ann - you will have to go to Florida for warmth and sunshine all year!
August 12th, 2015
What a lovely view you have. Like the water ripple effect.
August 12th, 2015
