Peek at a Cottage by maggiemae

Peek at a Cottage

The main road that runs south of Oamaru was closed today for repairs to a part and will be for a week. The traffic is diverted past our road which gave me practice for a panning shot. I need more practice! But way over there a mile away, there was a little cottage half hidden in the bush. Can only be seen as here using a zoom!

Three good things:
1. Made a delicious omelette sous vide. Will do it again!
2. The roar of traffic past our place was dulled by our double glazed windows.
3, I get all the News I want online nowadays but still like to do the puzzles in the real paper.
What a delightful cottage in amongst all those lovely trees and bushes -- quite a lot of work to keep them tidy , And I agree Maggiemae --I also prefer to do the puzzles in real papers !

Gorgeous framing of beautiful trees of varying colours. I think that looks a perfect place to live! I am surprised they have closed the road, we always comment how good you are about not shutting the roads for repairs. You just seem to cope perfectly driving slowly past !

Really lovely shrubs and bushes around the cottage and great peek through. Can't beat doing the puzzles on paper.

lovely scene! panning is something I haven't got yet either. I live in a place at the mo that doesnt need double glaze windows but there has been many where I would have been grateful for them.

What a lovely cottage tucked behind all those beautiful trees and flowers. They must have a wonderful view. What is a sous vide omelet?

Pretty landscaping that surrounds the cottage.

Fav. Pretty garden!

@skstein You put eggs into a strong plastic bag, jiggle them around, add cheese, mushroom etc then seal the bag, place in a pot of simmering water for 13 mins. Take out of water and roll out of the bag on to a plate! Scrumptuous!
September 29th, 2015
@maggiemae I'll have to give that a try.
September 29th, 2015
Interesting framing and color combination!
September 29th, 2015

What a lovely little hideaway!
We're about to stop our subscription to the daily newspaper after more years than I care to remember. The news coverage and language usage has deteriorated to such an extent that I don't think we'll miss it. The one thing I really will miss is the crossword! If you ever find a good online site please let me know ;)
September 29th, 2015
@kwiksilver You mean an online crossword site? Or newspaper?
September 29th, 2015
@maggiemae Online crossword site :) I've found a pretty good Sudoku site, but still looking for a good crossword one.
September 29th, 2015
Love the way the cottage is framed by the trees. We still get a daily paper for the crossword, sudden and word circle. If I read too much news I either feel angry or depressed! Back to the shot. I love the variety of colours and textures in the garden

@kelly2 Newspaper stories seem to be all doom and gloom. Who would want to live in their world!
September 29th, 2015
Beautiful view of this hidden cottage and the gardens!
September 30th, 2015
Pretty cottage! Do I see a person in the window there with binoculars looking at you taking their picture? Can you imagine!
October 2nd, 2015
@olivetreeann I think this is the sort of cottage that a very old lady lives with her cats and antimacassars on the back of dingy old armchairs! And wears a cardigan that goes up at the back!

Sure looks like an idyllic place to live, but then I loved Oamaru when we visited it in 2009
