First panning by maggiemae

First panning

As I said yesterday the main road traffic had been diverted down our road for 5 days so I had a good chance of getting my camera panning to be a bit more successful than just hit and miss! Those words weren’t chosen for the traffic! I tried less speed (camera) and more speed and had to incorporate aperture in as well. This one was at 1/100.

In actual fact the photo on my other album looks more dramatic but a bit blurred in front - which I have always hankered to be!
Three good things:
1. Our local cop who lunches next door with a friend, parked beside me when I was opposite our place taking these photos! We swopped moon photos ( well he did, I didn’t have any) then he said all these cars passing by will be a bit suspicious of the cop ‘interviewing’ the photographer! He chuckled as he crossed the road!
2. Planted new potatoes.
2. This photo shows the pink blossom tree in our garden which is just mighty!
Perfect panning shot!

This is great - and not easy to do. I've tried it with bicyclers and let's just say I took many, many shots to get one half way decent one. Great job!

This has worked really well. I haven't had much luck with panning shots!
September 29th, 2015
Nice and clear, Maggiemae!!

well done

Well done! I find panning neigh on impossible. Bet some of the drivers are worried about getting a ticket what with a cop talking to a photographer on the side of the road!

@salza Or telling me off for photographing people, do you think, Sally?
September 29th, 2015
i've never panned maggie :)

@phil_howcroft Not even for gold, Phil?

Wow this a good one.......slap in the middle & pretty clear, congratulations on a super shot! Funny you chatting photos with the old bill! Blurred in front would be good!
September 29th, 2015
Clever you. The car is perfect and the rest blurred .That pink blossom looks great
September 29th, 2015
Well done -- sharp in the capture of the car and great movement conveyed behind.
September 29th, 2015
Excellent, Maggiemae! Great clarity on the car!
September 30th, 2015
Very cool, something I'm yet to try
September 30th, 2015
@graemestevens I'm hoping to get someone texting then dob them in!
September 30th, 2015
The car is real sharp, and I love the blur in the background.....maybe a bit more would give it more of a sense of movement?! Thanks for pointing out the pink tree on your property....it's gorgeous....and, mighty!!
September 30th, 2015
@panthora Yes, that is what I really wanted to catch - but these cars were only doing under 50km. If I panned too fast, everything was a blur, likewise with too slow! The one on my other posting was better for my ambition!
September 30th, 2015
This is much clearer focus on the car than the one I posted.
September 30th, 2015
@thistle But because they weren't going really fast you don't see the blur of the background!
September 30th, 2015
Nice job! Very clear!
September 30th, 2015
Great moving capture, wooooooooosh !!
September 30th, 2015
I think your panning worked very well here, and I chuckled at the story about the policeman. That blossoming tree must be a gorgeous sight.
September 30th, 2015
Well done, I have yet to master this!
September 30th, 2015
Its great! Like the cop story too!

The motorists will think you are clocking their speed. Good shot!
October 2nd, 2015
Well done. I've not had much luck with panning, I need more practice.
October 2nd, 2015
@fntngrma Give it a try, Rosan - you can work through it and when it is good, you know it!
October 2nd, 2015
It irked really well. I must pluck up the courage to giv it a go.
October 2nd, 2015
