The Duck Family by maggiemae

The Duck Family

These Paradise Ducks were on the beach at Castle point. A lovely sandy beach overlooked by the lighthouse on my other shot. Mama was taking her family to have a paddle and they obediently went into the water behind her. They looked rather ruffled and nervous in the water and when she waddled out of the waves they hurried to catch up with her. Papa looked on benevolently!

Three good things:
1. A very pleasant landscape driving from Lake Ferry eastwards to Castlepoint on the east coast of the North Island, NZ. Forests, willows by clear streams, kowhais blooming and an interesting couple of trees with purple flowers.
2. The hotel is wonderful here, reminiscent of FaultyTowers with up and down staircases and rooms under sloping roofs. Surrounded by a beautiful golf course.
3. A dinner with huge scallops beautiful cooked.
What a cute little duck family. Love your photo. What a beautiful place to be. Where are you? I have lost track of way too many people. FAV
