Traversing over the hills from one side of the Coromandel Peninsula to the west we passed several beautiful beaches then the hills became covered with bush and the road wound its way down to the sea to the cute little village of Coromandel!
Three Good things:
1. The young pup next door who belonged to the owners, found the rope under the rotary clothesline and ran around in circles with it in his mouth! The washing seemed to dry quite quickly!
2. Coffee in the wilds up at the top of the Coromandel Peninsula called Castle Rock Cafe in the above area was just so much fun. The guy first of all said if you need anything throw something at the window ( we were outside on the deck). Needless to say I questioned whether a rock would be Ok! Then… in the shop that sold wonderful condiments - jams, chutneys, sauces, I notice on a shelf this lovely little teapot that looked like a cottage. Said, Oh, I love that! He said, “you can have it, I don’t like it” put it in a bag and gave it to me!! He assured me he was in charge!
3. We felt like we were in a boat at the next location - the water was lapping at the rocks under the deck! The sea stretched out for miles over the Hauraki Gulf and all the islands became shapes as the sun sank lower and lower. We did too!- became shapes sinking lower and lower!
I can just imagine you sinking lower & lower down into your chairs as the evening wire in....sounds blissful! You are a very good writer with excellent descriptions of your travels.....wonder where you get that from! Looks lovely & stunning scenery. So green everywhere to, the mountains at the back have an almost painting look.
Gorgeous view, and it appears that a wonderful day was had by all!! I know that teapot will feature in your album one of these days!! Your vacation is turning wilder and wilder as you move farther away from home base!! FAV!
