Halfway between Coromandel and Thames, (NZ. Coromandel coast) I got out on to the road to photograph a lovely cliff beside the road that was covered in flowers. Hearing a loud sort of croak, I looked up and just at this point the trees were full of nests - cormorants I presume! They were perched in the trees all alongside this road!
Three good things:
1. This morning we looked out of our seaside room and the ocean was flat and silver in the early morning light. Difficult to leave but there was no tea so we went looking for a coffee or tea.
2. Found a cafe further down the road and treated myself to a large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice! …and a chelsea bun!
3. The old hotels in Thames didn’t appeal so we went looking. Seaside Lodge meant what it was called and we booked in. But then I found I’d lost my credit card and my brain went somewhat to mush and loaded all our stuff into the wrong unit ( the doors were all open). The owner came back with two home made muffins and said she had shuffled the bookings around and we didn’t have to move! Three cheers!
@genesis_one There were so many of them here that I was surprised to learn they were endangered! This one doesn't seem to have any yellow. Could be a juvenile.
Well this isn't your usual shot maggiemae....using that amazing zoom on that camera of yours? My friend I go to the cinema with is off to see her daughter in Australia on Monday & she has just bought the same camera as you....I was telling her what great photos you take! A lost credit card is a sorry no wonder you got in a fluster! Looks a very strange pre historic bird!
@happypat Yes that zoom is marvellous as long as I can anchor the camera firmly. I have blocked and cancelled the credit card so now I can't buy anything on my own! I have to have John with me with his card! Ah, woe is me!
You managed to get a nice clean close up of this beautiful bird. fav.
I know the feeling when you think you lost your credit card. better step by step back to see where and when you saw it last. hope you find it.
a lost (or misplaced) credit card is a big hassle, especially when you want to shop. very nice shot of this cormorant. the cormorants we have here are ugly, only a degree better looking than the turkey vultures.
Beautiful capture! It must have been lovely to see them in their nests! What a blow looking your credit card! So much hassle cancelling and getting a new one. Fav for this great shot!
Wonderful shot! The only time I've seen Comorants was when I was in Florida with my friend many years ago now! But there were flocks of them on the beach and they seemed to be unbothered by people walking up and taking pictures of them!
This is a beautiful capture, such lovely light and detail, fav. Sounds as if you are meeting some very nice people on this trip. Hope you were able to cancel your credit card (unless of course you found it again).
@tristansmum I was able to find out where I last used it by looking at the credit card online and remembered exactly what happened. it was at a footsore and the Indian man had put some items on my bill that weren't correct and so I was flustered. I did take the credit card back but now its disappeared and consequently I've cancelled it! Bummer!
Sounds like a good day all around! Were you ever able to find your credit card....or, at least remember where you might have used it last? Hope all is good....love your cormorant capture! FAV!
