The Bowling Green by maggiemae

The Bowling Green

which is not green here!

The internet is not fast broadband and I’ve got spoilt at times. Takes ages to do anything on the computer. Our son in law goes to a bowling evening on this night and it seems a very social pastime with a very reasonably priced buffet to end it. There were three bowling greens here in a small settlement of only about 3000 people and this one had a background of lovely spooky looking manuka trees!

Three good things;
1. Not having to talk - love it when I’m on my own - all the others were working, asleep or doing other things.
2. A walk on the beach - not energetic but at least moving feet!
3. Being bitten by a mosquito but in spite of it becoming a bump, it was not itchy! Told to rub toothpaste on it but in the middle of the night, where’s the toothpaste!
Nice shot - that green looks very smooth!

Love this in B&W. Welcome to my Internet world. The speed or rather lack of speed here is really taking away my ability to comment. It is just too frustrating to be enjoyable so I just have to browse for sanity sake.

Lovely capture!

@ubobohobo You might have to consider satellite coverage, Margaret! Bit expensive though. Good to browse - gives you ideas and inclinations!

@shepherdman It was very smooth - just a new lawn, not had the tread of many feet on it yet!

Nice B&W picture.

Those trees are a wonderful backdrop to the immaculate bowling green and the b&w really shows them off.

I came back tonight to an empty house. Harry has gone with fish & chips to,our neighbours for the evening & I too am enjoying a quiet night on my own. Love this bowling shot & it's a Fave again for me. The darks & lights are so,pronounced & very dominant trees behind. Love the little figures & the woods on the green. I have been impressed how keen the NZ people enjoy bowling. As we drive into Morrinsville there is a bowling green on the left there & there they all are in full whites as keen as mustard!

@ishutter Its just called lawn bowls in our land, Kim! Don't know about bocce!

@happypat Thanks for that fav, Pat! Yes, more and more popular - of course while you are waiting for your ball to roll over the lawn, you simply must have a drink in hand!

This almost looks like smooth water...very cool images. I like those white tree trunks.

Fav. The trees complete the picture. Fav.

This looks like a different kind of game than what bowling is over here. I'll have to Google.

Lovely capture in B & W.

So flat and nice edit. We use toothpaste for bites too.

Would love to explore those trees! This works so well in b&w !

Those trees are so unusual.....well captured. Sounds like fun. Perfect for b&w!

I love the way your processing simplifies this. I usually find that water as hot as I can stand it stops the itching of a mosquito bite. Apparently the heat kills the enzymes which cause the itching.
